Úlehla, Vojtěch ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Straková, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis is aimed at the issue of delimitation the primary schools' catchment areas (PSCA). It follows on from the bachelor's thesis, in which a map representation and evaluation of the current delimitation of PSCA in the territory of Prague 3 Municipal District was realized. The diploma thesis deals with this topic in more depth from a theoretical-conceptual point of view, it describes the discussion of approaches to the distribution of children into primary schools during compulsory school attendance and the parental school choice in various countries, as well as diverse aspects that influence the delimitation of PSCA in Czechia. The focus of the thesis is the methodological part, the aim is to discuss available data sources related to the topic suitable for work in the environment of geographic information systems (GIS) and possible map representations of PSCA. An important part is dedicated to the proposal for the delimitation of PSCA using GIS as an allocation analysis. Everything is illustrated using the example of the Czech capital city, Prague, the current delimitation is compared with the proposal, and the appropriateness of current delimitation of PSCA is evaluated. Úlehla, Vojtěch ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Matoušek, Roman (referee)
The bachelor thesis was aimed at providing an overview on various principles and consequences of delimitation of catchment areas of primary schools (CAPS) in Czechia in theory and in practice. The problem is presented on an example of the territory of Prague 3 Municipal District. The non-specific aim of the thesis is to describe legal principles of delimitation of CAPS, a geographic perspective of delimitation of CAPS, how the delimitation of CAPS is associated with the topic of education inequality and how CAPS are in effect delimited by responsible civil servants. The specific aim is to study specifics and development of the territory of Prague 3 Municipal District and to characterise particular primary schools in the city district with respect to a development of a number of pupils in schools. A current delimitation of CAPS and a development of CAPS from 1997 to the present is mapped, analysed and discussed. The analysis is supplemented with information provided by the civil servants of Prague 3 Municipal District. Keywords: catchment area, geography of education, primary school, Prague 3

Houšková, Zuzana ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Šifta, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the problem of creating school catchment areas in Czechia. The aim is to present and discuss the topic of defining the school catchment areas from legal, geographical and sociological view. School catchment areas should guarantee acceptance to school near home for all children in Czechia. However in some cases they can lead to segregation of ethnical or social minorities. Cities Děčín and Teplice have been chosen as case studies. Four school decrees from past 20 years have been selected from each city and maps have been created based on these. In the decrees, possible errors were found likely caused by poor wording or inadvertently introduced by the officials. The work also includes online maps that have been created to simplify the detection of errors in city decrees. My research shows that school catchment areas are created in a similar ways in both cities, and the boundaries of catchment areas are predominantly the boundaries of urban areas, traffic communications, or natural barriers. Keywords: catchment area, elementary school, Czechia

The aim is to present and discuss the strategies used by the municipalities for defining the school catchment areas on selected examples. Cities Děčín and Teplice have been chosen as case studies. Four school decrees have been selected from each city and maps have been created based on these. My research shows that school catchment areas are created in a similar ways in both cities, and the boundaries of catchment areas are predominantly the boundaries of urban areas, traffic communications, or natural barriers. In the decrees, possible errors were found likely caused by poor wording or inadvertently introduced by the officials. The work also includes maps that have been created to simplify the detection of errors in city decrees. In both Děčín and Teplice, one school has been selected with respect to the risk of segregation of children from the perspective of national minorities. Field survey has been made on 23.4 2019. The investigation has shown that at one of the selected schools, segregation is starting to happen. Currently, the proportion of national minorities is 30% in the higher classes, with minority ratios above 50% in the first and second classes. The results of the investigation have been also...
